What does Trainerize's custom branded app get you, and what does it cost?

By Max Litvinov, founder of Fitera
Updated · Prices checked Sep 2026 · 8 min read

Trainerize's custom branded app costs $169 once on Pro, which puts your icon on its shared iPhone app, called "Fitness App", plus a Google Play listing. Studio Plus, $275 a month for up to 500 clients, adds an App Store listing in your own developer account; cancel, and either app is deactivated.

This page is for coaches on Trainerize, or weighing it, who want an app with their name on it. It covers both apps, their cost at 25 to 250 clients, and what happens when you leave.

Verdict

For your logo on clients' phones, Pro's $169 app is the cheapest step. For your name in the App Store, you need Studio Plus at $275 a month. Neither app goes with you when you leave Trainerize.

Trainerize calls both a custom branded app. They are different products, and the difference shows on your clients' iPhones.

What it costs at 25, 50, 100 and 250 clients

Pro's price climbs with your client count, and its app adds $169 once. Studio Plus is one price up to 500 clients, app included. The table shows the monthly plan price for each app.

Monthly price of each branded app by client countUSD, monthly billing, before Apple's $99 a year. Checked 15 Sep 2026.

Monthly plan price of Trainerize's Pro and Studio branded apps at 25, 50, 100 and 250 clients
App25 clients50 clients100 clients250 clients
Pro app (shared iPhone listing)$79 + $169 once$135 + $169 once$225 + $169 once$275
Studio app (your App Store listing)$275$275$275$275

Pro tiers: $79 covers 30 clients, $135 covers 50, $225 covers 100 and $250 covers 200. Pro stops at 200, so 250 clients means Studio Plus. Annual billing saves 10%.

Year one at 100 clients: Pro with its app costs $2,869, and Studio Plus with Apple's fee costs $3,399. Your own App Store listing costs $530 more. Take payments on Pro and Stripe adds $10 a month, which cuts the gap to $410.

What you get, and what stays Trainerize's

Trainerize says it takes its app "and customize[s] it to reflect your branding". So the app's features are Trainerize's features.

What you get

  • Your icon on clients' phones (Pro), or your own App Store listing (Studio)
  • A Google Play listing in your brand
  • Trainerize's app and its features, in your brand
  • Stripe payments: $10 a month on Pro, included on Studio

What stays Trainerize's

  • The iPhone app on Pro: "it will be the Trainerize app, called "Fitness App". There are no exceptions."
  • The Google Play developer account, on both plans
  • Its name on the web address, the Stripe checkout and the start-up screen
  • Your clients' history, which the export leaves out

Payments take credit cards only: Apple Pay and Google Pay "are not supported". Studio's app can't sell anything in the App Store, so clients buy elsewhere and get an invite first.

What happens to the app when you leave

This is where a platform's app and your own app differ most. Trainerize's pages say:

Its pages don't say whether the app or the Google Play listing can move to you. The Studio App Store listing sits in your developer account, but the app in it stops working when you cancel.

“When I left my coach, I lost training progression and progress photos, and trainerize have no way to export the data”

When Trainerize's app is the right choice

For many coaches it is. Match your situation to a row.

Branding is enough
Under 200 clients and happy on Trainerize? Pro's $169 app puts your icon on clients' phones, and nothing else changes.
200 to 500 clients
Studio Plus covers up to 500 clients for $275, app included. At 500 clients that is 55 cents each a month.
A studio or gym
Studio Plus covers one location. Trainerize prices each added location as custom.
Your name in the store, cheaper
Kahunas lists your own App Store and Google Play listings from $99 a month. See the Kahunas branded app.
Features for your method
A platform app can't add them. Look at your own app, below.

Branded apps on other coaching platforms

Or your own app: builder, agency or partner

Fitera is our company. We are a revenue-share partner, one of the three routes below, and we earn from it.

A platform app is the cheapest way to put your logo on clients' phones. Your own app is a different product. Its features follow your method, and it lives in your accounts.

No-code builder
You build and run the app yourself, for a monthly fee. Our guide to creating your own fitness app compares them.
Agency build
A fitness MVP costs about $50,000 to $110,000, and you can own the code. See what a fitness app costs.
Revenue-share partner
$0 up front. Fitera builds and runs the app and keeps 30% to 50% of net revenue. Stripe and the store accounts are in your name.

We partner with creators from about 20,000 followers with high engagement, after a call. Below that, a platform app is usually the better deal. Apply with the 2-minute form.

Questions coaches ask

Is the Trainerize custom branded app worth it?

Yes on Pro, if you want your icon on clients' phones for $169 once. It isn't your own app: iPhone clients still open "Fitness App". Some coaches argue clients care more about the coaching than the app's name.

How much does the Trainerize branded app cost?

$169 once on Pro, which runs from $25 to $250 a month by client count. Studio Plus includes it at $275 a month for up to 500 clients. Apple's $99 a year comes on top for Studio.

Does Trainerize put my app in the App Store under my name?

Only on Studio. Pro's app sits on Trainerize's shared App Store listing. On both plans, the Google Play listing is published from Trainerize's developer account.

How long does a Trainerize branded app take?

Up to 12 to 16 weeks on Pro, Trainerize's help centre says, with no preview. A Studio app takes 4 weeks on average, or 4 to 6 business weeks.

What happens to my Trainerize app if I cancel?

It is deactivated, and clients move to the main Trainerize app. On Pro, the Android app leaves Google Play. Export your client list first: workout history can't be exported.

Sources and method

We checked every fact on Trainerize's own site on 15 September 2026. We did not use other vendors' or review sites' pages about Trainerize. Prices are monthly billing in USD.

Where Trainerize's pages disagree, we show the pricing page. Its Pro app FAQ says both "up to 12-16 weeks" and "up to 8 business weeks".

The Studio FAQ quotes "$250-350/month", while the pricing page lists $275. One page says a cancelled app is "deactivated", another "archived".

Year one at 100 clients: Pro is 12 × $225 + $169 = $2,869. Studio Plus is 12 × $275 + $99 = $3,399. Stripe on Pro adds 12 × $10 = $120.
